Which cities will get the 5G first?
Sadly, it will not have an immediate impact. 5G services will be rolled out in a phased manner in the country. In the first phase, there are 13 cities that will be blessed with the 5G networks. These cities list includes – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune. That means, if you are residing in one of these cities then you will be among the first to enjoy 5G services.
The rest of the cities, towns and villages will receive 5G services in the next phase in the coming months. In the next two-three years, 5G services are set to reach all of India.
Bharti Airtel launches 5G services in 8 cities today
Bharti Airtel suggested that the company is planning to expand the 5G service in most major cities by the end of 2023. Also, the company said that 5G will be available in towns and key rural areas by March 2024. Bharti Airtel is launching 5G telecom services in eight cities, including four metros, on Saturday and will progressively cover the entire country by March 2024, its chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said. “5G from Airtel will be available in 8 cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Bangalore and other cities,” Mittal said.
Speaking at the IMC 2022, he said the nation’s oldest private telecom operator is launching 5G mobile services in eight major cities and will cover most parts by March 2023 and the entire country by March 2024.
Reliance Jio targets Diwali launch
Reliance Jio is expected to roll out Jio 5G services across multiple key cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai by Diwali this year. Reliance Jio was the top spender at the 5G spectrum auctions bidding.
“Today, I want to reiterate Jio’s commitment to deliver 5G to every town, every taluka, and every tehsil of our country by December 2023,” Mukesh Ambani said at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) conference here.
The roadmap for the 5G services may not be clear, but the four giant telecom companies namely, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Adani, were the main participants during the 5G spectrum auction in August 2022. Hence, 5G services are going to reach your devices soon enough.
