In May last year, Vingroup announced that it would withdraw from the smartphone segment to focus all its efforts on VinFast. VinSmart’s resources will be redirected to develop intelligent features on vehicles, including the information – entertainment – service system (Infotainment) on VinFast vehicles.
One year after this event, a user recently shared an image of an unreleased Vsmart smartphone called Active 5. This is considered the successor to the Active 3, one of the popular models. most prominent of the Vietnamese smartphone brand.
Through the image, it can be seen that the highlight of Vsmart Active 5 lies in the dual punch-hole screen design. The back of the device seems to be made of plastic with a cluster of 4 cameras, of which the main camera has a resolution of 16MP. Some information indicates that Active 5 uses MediaTek Helio G90T chip.
Through an IMEI lookup, we can confirm that this is indeed a Vsmart Active 5 model. Most likely the machine in the picture is an internal test version of VinSmart, but was later removed after the company. This withdraws from the smartphone segment.
In the middle of last year, another unreleased smartphone model of Vsmart, the Bee 5, also appeared at a few small business stores. Vsmart Bee 5 is a product that was completed before Vingroup made the decision to stop making smartphones, and is now “liquidated” as inventory. The Vingroup side later confirmed that the Bee 5 is a genuine product and will receive the normal after-sales service, but also again confirmed that this is just an inventory and has no plans to return to the smartphone segment.
