Only a few more months, the World Cup will officially return. Currently, the host country Qatar is rushing to make the final preparations to welcome the largest football festival on the planet, which will be held for the first time in winter to limit the impact of the prolonged hot climate. in this Middle Eastern country. In particular, all 8 stadiums selected to host the matches of the 2022 World Cup will be equipped with air conditioners to bring the most comfortable atmosphere for both players and spectators.

All 8 stadiums where matches of the 2022 World Cup final round will be installed will be air-conditioned.

In June and July, the time when the World Cup is usually held, the average temperature in Qatar can reach 42 degrees Celsius, which is not suitable for outdoor physical activities. That is why this year’s World Cup has been rescheduled to November – December, even though the final qualifying round as well as the draw for the finals have been completed.

However, even in winter, temperatures in Qatar can still reach 24 degrees Celsius and rarely fall below 11 degrees Celsius (according to Weather Spark information). That is why the host country decided to install air conditioning systems for its stadiums to cool the event space and help the teams compete in the most comfortable conditions.

Even when hosting the World Cup in winter, the climate in Qatar can still be quite hot and uncomfortable.

The cooling technology they chose to use solar energy was developed under the leadership of Professor Saud Abdulaziz Abdul Ghani from the Technical University with the help of Qatar University. “We not only cool the air but also clean the air”, Professor Ghani, who has been dubbed “Dr. Cool”, shared in an interview with FIFA.

“We want to clean the air for the audience. For example, people with allergies will not need to worry when coming to our stadium, because we will bring the cleanest, freshest, purest air to them.” he continued to explain.

“Pre-cooled air will enter the ventilation openings installed in the stands and the sprinkler system located along the pitch. Using the air circulation technique, the cool air, after being released into the yard, will be collected, cooled and filtered, and then blown out where it is needed.

“The most important thing for maximum cooling efficiency is to not let hot air outside enter the yard. That’s why we had to study the size and design of each stadium to make the most reasonable adjustments, preventing hot air from entering.“.

[Vietsub] Professor Abdul Ghani explains the air conditioning mechanism inside Qatar’s stadiums: Cools and cleans the air while saving energy and protecting the natural environment.

As expected, the opening match of the 2022 World Cup will take place at 5:00 p.m. on November 21 (Vietnam time) at Al Thumama Stadium between the Netherlands and Senegal. At this time, the host country Qatar is urgently reviewing and completing the final preparations in order to be able to bring about the most complete and exciting football festival.
