If gamers playing Call of Duty use third-party software to cheat, they can face a unique “judgment”. Activision calls the new player punishment function “cloaking,” which can make players invisible to enemies.
Specifically, the post on the developer’s blog claims that players using cheats will not be able to see characters, projectiles or even sounds from other players. Meanwhile, the “cheat” will still be displayed in front of the player as usual.
Activision joked that if you see a character running in a circle, constantly wondering “who is shooting me”, then it is a gamer who is being punished by the anti-cheat system.
Call of Duty: Vanguard will be updated with this anti-cheat feature first, then the Warzone version. It will go hand in hand with another anti-cheat system called Damage Shield, which works “removed the possibility of crooks dealing critical damage to the player“.
Some people think that Activision’s handling is roundabout, when it does not directly ban cheating players from their games. But according to the developer, the application of this mechanism “make crooks weak against real playersand allows the team to develop anti-cheat”collect information related to the crook’s system“. In November, Activision warned that players who repeatedly cheat in Call of Duty will risk being permanently banned from participating in any past, present and future CoD games.
Following the introduction of the Damage Shield feature in February, Activision claims that the number of players reporting cheating has decreased, but they still understand that the battle against cheating never ends. Currently Activision is still testing many other anti-cheat mechanisms.
