Gypsum is inedible, so its appearance certainly cannot be attributed to palatability. Therefore, most people will not choose the shape of plaster for dessert design inspiration. However, that’s exactly what the chefs at Opuses, a high-end restaurant in Tokyo, Japan choose to inspire their new desserts.

Photos of the odd-looking dish were posted on Twitter by user mimimimimitsu32 and eventually received over 200,000 likes, 26,000 retweets, and hundreds of comments. The general impression is that the dessert looks like plaster.
