Sooner review: Teddy Lehman breaks down OU-Texas Tech


NORMAN, Okla. — Teddy Lehman has about had enough of Oklahoma’s 15-yard penalties.

Through nine games this season, Oklahoma is tied for 93rd in the nation with 65 penalty yards per game. In the past two games — wins against Kansas State and Texas Tech — the Sooners have been flagged seven times for personal fouls or unsportsmanlike conduct.

“A 15-yard penalty is the most selfish thing you can do to your teammates,” Lehman told The Athletic on Sunday. “You’ve got guys who prepare their butts off all week — film, studying their playbooks, physically preparing their bodies to go out there to play their best and win. In that moment, it’s all about you. You don’t care about anyone else. You don’t care about teammates. You don’t care about coaches. It’s all about you. I can’t stand it. I played football a long time, and I don’t think I ever got a 15-yard penalty.”
