After weeks of card reveals and months of anticipation, Hearthstone‘s newest expansion is finally just about here.
Knights of the Frozen Throne is the second expansion of 2017, and will add 135 new cards to the game. That includes nine new Hero cards, which transform the basic class heros into powerful Death Knight versions of themselves.
It will also be the first expansion to come with single player missions. If you beat the prologue, you will be rewarded with a random Hero card. The missions will be released throughout the coming weeks, replicating the experience of the adventure card releases.
As for exactly when the set will launch, that’s a little bit unknown right now. All we know is that it launches Aug. 10 in North America, and on the morning of Aug. 11 for Europe.
For the last couple of sets, Blizzard has been reluctant to give a strict timeframe for release. That way if they miss it they don’t get a load of noise from fans, and it reduces the load on servers of all players trying to log on at that time.
If you haven’t opened the Blizzard app in a few days—for some reason—do so now. The patch containing all of the expansion content is now being pushed to players.
