Shadow of the Colossus remake gets a TGS trailer
Left Alive is a new IP from Square Enix with character designs from Yoji Shinkawa coming to PlayStation 4 next year.
The Tokyo Game Show (TGS) doesn’t actually start until this Thursday, September 21st, but Sony wanted to get the ball rolling early and held their own pre-TGS press conference earlier today. While some of the stuff does apply only to Japan, we do get to occasionally see things like new IPs to look forward to in the somewhat near future. One new IP shown was from publisher Square Enix, and it’s a futuristic action game called Left Alive.
Details on Left Alive are pretty scarce so we don’t really know anything about the world or story or even really the gameplay at this point. There are some noteworthy names working on this new IP. Yoji Shinkawa, who did character designs for the Metal Gear Solid games along with director Toshifumi Nabeshima, who has worked on the Armored Core series and Chromehounds. Given Nabeshima’s previous work, this would suggest that Left Alive will feature some heavy mech action. There was a brief trailer shown at Sony’s pre-TGS press conference, but it reveals only a little about the world itself that Left Alive inhabits, not much else. Check it out below:
A minute-long trailer showing almost nothing isn’t much to go on, but if it is a mech-action game from the director of series like Armored Core and Chromehounds, you should have some idea of what kind of game you are in for. I like the idea of mech action games, with few exceptions they tend to be kind of slow and clumsy in my experience. However if Left Alive manages to avoid that pitfall, I would be very interested in checking it out and hopefully it comes stateside sometime next year.
