GTA 5 Online’s new DLC, Transform Races, is coming to the game this Tuesday, October 17th, following Rockstar’s announcement earlier this week along with the games first trailer for the new mode.
“Transform Races allow for instant mid-race transition between land, sea and air vehicles as players traverse courses that span Los Santos’ streets, harbors, and skies,” a new update from Rockstar explained.
“Transform between a wide array of vehicle types – from Supers and Off-Roaders, to Boats, Jet Skis, Planes, Helicopters and more.
“These new and unique stunt tracks will also feature Warps, new checkpoint types that allow for instant mid-race jumps from place to place across the map, allowing for a huge range of new Stunt Race types.”
Looking further afield, Rockstar will look to follow up Transform Races with two new adversary modes and several new vehicles.
The first mode, Condemned, will see one player remain the kill target until they kill an opponent to pass along their marked status.
There’s also Dogfight, an aerial battle to the death which will no doubt make the most of the recent DLC released for Smugglers Run.
As for those new vehicles, they’re also coming this fall and will include: the Hunter attack helicopter, Coil Cyclone supercar and Vigilante, which is basically the Batmobile.
There’s also plans for inventory updates at Legendary Motorsport, and new properties via Maze Bank Foreclosures.
In the more immediate future though, GTA Online has also seen yet another content drop earlier this week – the latest in a long line of reliable patches and updates the game has been receiving since its launch.
The Smuggler’s Run update has introduced a new vehicle to the game – the Buckingham Pyro.
Available now at Warstock Cache & Carry, the brand new twin-boom Buckingham Pyro is equipped with a jet engine, dual machine guns, and a slew of available upgrades from the Hangar workshop, such as homing missiles, liveries, armor, engine and handling upgrades, and more.
A description for the Buckingham Pyro reads:
“You want to rain death from the skies just like any other bearded twenty-something, but gun-metal grey and swept back wings are so mainstream. You need something that suggests old world expertise and class – like a manual transmission, or that cut-throat razor you’re too frightened to use. Well look no further: with its twin-boom, single-engine vintage styling, the Pyro is the high-fidelity vinyl of air superiority.”
Alongside the fearsome Buckingham Pyro, comes multiple bonus opportunities such as extended Double GTA$ & RP in the latest aerial mode, Stockpile, as well as double payouts in Motor Wars.
Finally, for this week, an in-game glitch conspired to wreck a Twitch streamers attempt to breaking the world record time for finishing Grand Theft Auto 5.
Veteran GTA player DarkViperAU was well on his way to beating the previous GTA 5 record of 6:36:48 (with load times included) before seriously unfortunate event stopped him from becoming the new world champion.
“When DarkViperAU first approaches the underpass, gunfire from the police helicopter flying overhead shockingly takes out his back tire with only a few shots.” explained Kotaku AU.
“Then the game mysteriously throws his car into oncoming traffic on the left side (known as the “levitation bug”) before he’s able to get back on the right side with the trucks in sight. But by then he’s already lost too much time and can’t make it into the back of the truck.
In a thread posted later on, DarkViperAU explained just how unlucky he was, writing:
“The helicopter shooting out my tire was unlucky. The bug occurring that threw me into the air and over to the other side of the road was insane. The loss of my tire then prevented me from getting into the back of the truck was infuriating. It was all nothing compared to how sickening that softlock was. Even after the first fail I was still on pace to WR by 2 minutes. That run was easily the best Classic% run that has ever existed and I don’t think it will be topped by anyone for a long time.”
