As mentioned before, the German automaker showed off two coupe concepts at the Monterey Car Week Concours d’Elegance. The Z4 roadster and 8 Series coupe feature unique design cues with wide, low-slung stances accented by LED headlights as well as a unique spin on the Bavarian automaker’s signature kidney grille.

Both cars, which are modern twists on two classics, are expected to be slotted in the automaker’s lineup next year.

Though a little late to the EV party, South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Co. is finally taking electric cars seriously in its strategic plans for the near future.

Hoping to compete with other automakers that have already shifted their focus toward EVs – as well as Silicon Valley startups that have already caused quite a stir in the industry, Hyundai will launch an electric sedan under its luxury subsidiary Genesis in 2021. The automaker expects that sedan to boast a 300+ mile range, and it will also introduce an electrified Kona crossover sometime in the first half of next year.

Speaking of startups disrupting automakers, General Motors Maven car-sharing service wants to compete more directly with on-demand mobility services currently offered by Uber and Lyft.

Hoping to further supplement its Maven Gig service, GM looks to carefully collect data so it can better assess how practical a fractional ownership or peer-to-peer car-sharing service can be.

The GT R is the most extreme sports car ever to come out of Affalterbach, but is it the best?

(Brian Leon)

Luxurious finishes and high-performance power in a sports car are hard to find in perfect harmony lest you drop six figures to attain it.

Straight from the engineers in Affalterbach, Germany, the Mercedes-AMG GT R roadster is so beastly, yet refined that it will give Porsche 911 owners some serious buyer’s remorse.

Contributing writer Brian Leon is back at it again behind the wheel of another gorgeous beast as he recounts his tail of taking the GT R from Manhattan to Lime Rock, Connecticut.

Read about Brian’s experience here.
