Blizzard today announced its plans for next week’s Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany. Posting on Battle.net, the studio promised its “best show yet,” with videos, playable demos, cosplays, meet-and-greets, and more related to its biggest games.
The studio will get things started by releasing a preview video on its YouTube channel on Monday, August 21 at 12 p.m. EST. Then, on Wednesday, August 23 at 2 p.m. EST, Blizzard developers will be livestreamed on stage at the company’s booth for a “Blizzard Reveal Ceremony” at gamescom.blizzard.com, where fans can also find a schedule of events.
If you’re headed to the show, Blizzard will (naturally) be selling plenty of merchandise in its store over in Hall 5. Its booth, meanwhile, will be located in Koelnmesse’s Hall 7 and will be stocked with playable builds of Overwatch, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft II, StarCraft: Remastered, and Diablo III. Each game demo will have its respective game’s newest content playable to attendees.
Speaking of new content, attendees will get the chance to play a new Overwatch map that Blizzard will unveil during its Monday video presentation. Just yesterday, a dataminer uncovered some Overwatch code implying that the game’s next map could be called Junkertown, presumably home to the character Junkrat.
Other Overwatch events include the Wednesday debut of a new animated short, a live performance by the game’s German voice actors on Thursday, and a presentation by Overwatch FX Artis Rachel Day on Friday centered on the character Doomfist.
Blizzard will close things out on Saturday with a cosplay content, a panel hosted by the German Overwatch World Cup team and a variety of smaller events.
Fans who won’t be making their way to Cologne next week can tune into Blizzard’s daily livestreams and social media channels to follow along from home.
