Bay Area: When it comes to your internet, you have a choice [Sponsored] – Hoodline San Francisco Bay Area

Imagine if your only choice for internet was one of the most hated companies in America. Not great, right? Unfortunately, this is the situation for more than half of all Americans. Yes, more than half of the people in this country only have one option for high-speed broadband service

Better, but not great, are duopolies. They’re familiar, but not always in a good way. We’ve all heard the horror stories about the raising of prices, the difficulties people have when cancelling and terrible customer care.

Sonic, however, is working to change that. Sonic is the largest independent internet provider in California. Its bread-and-butter — gigabit fiber service —provides the fastest, most reliable internet connections delivered over the most advanced technology available.

With recent expansions in the East Bay and the Peninsula, Sonic has announced pre-orders in 19 new cities and neighborhoods, including some in San Francisco: Upper and Lower Pacific Heights, North Beach, Nob Hill and Cow Hollow, to name a few.

Sonic is fighting for increased competition by building its own fiber-optic network and bringing accessible, affordable internet connectivity to as many Bay Area residents as possible.

“As interest in cable continues to decline and streaming services gain more traction, having high-speed, reliable internet is no longer a luxury. It’s a must-have,” said Dane Jasper, co-founder and CEO of Sonic. “For those looking to escape cable’s monopoly, Sonic provides a fast and affordable alternative that can power everything from streaming entertainment services to laptops and tablets to smart home devices.”

While the Bay Area has more internet options than other regions, getting in with the wrong provider can be an unpleasant experience, to say the least. Residents often face sub-par and spotty speeds, troublesome customer service and random price increases.

That probably explains why Sonic’s customers were so quick to switch once they learned Sonic was available in their area.

“I conduct my small business from home, and time spent waiting for emails to send or for important documents to download is simply time I can’t afford to lose,” said Angie Chang of Berkeley. “That’s why I immediately signed up for Sonic fiber to be installed. It’s affordable and easy — and now I don’t have to worry about my VOIP calls being dropped or freezing.”

Plus, Chang notes, “I like to support the local business, and Sonic is located in nearby Santa Rosa. The other options for internet service in the San Francisco Bay Area are not appealing.”

“When searching for an internet provider, Sonic was the obvious choice,” said Christian Morabito, co-founder of Outer Sunset restaurant and fish market Hook Fish Co. “They not only provide the best and fastest internet service around, but they’re customer-focused, responsive, and always easy to work with.”

The bottom line is that when you have the opportunity to choose, it’s important to choose wisely. Look for an ISP that’s local, trustworthy, and committed to putting customers first.
