TOMS RIVER – Police are searching for a man they say improperly bought a $1,317 smartphone through an Amazon Business account.
Police first received the report of the unauthorized iPhone X purchase on Jan. 17, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.
“The delivery was rerouted from the initial business address to an alternate Amazon pickup location within Toms River,” according to the post. “The unknown man picked up the phone at the package delivery location and he has not yet been identified.”
Police also posted two surveillance photographs of a suspect who appears to be a slender white man with close-cropped or shaved hair, wearing dark clothing, sneakers and a hooded sweatshirt or jacket.
Police asked anyone with information on the suspect to call Detective Steve Bucci at 732-349-0150 ext. 1300 or email him.
