We’ve all been on the receiving end of cold callers or spam calls from random numbers that are not in our phone book.

Unfortunately, these calls are part of the modern age and can be very annoying.

However, you can block specific phone numbers on your iPhone, enabling you to avoid them. Apple‘s iPhone didn’t offer a simple way to block an incoming number before Apple’s iOS 7: it could be done, but it involved complicated procedures.

However, since the introduction of the iOS 7 operating system, blocking a number has become an easier process.

Macworld UK have provided two useful ways to block a phone number on an iPhone running iOS 7, iOS 8, iOS 9 or iOS 10.

If you receive a call that has been bothering you and then decide you want to block that person’s number then you can do this from the Phone app.

You can also do this via the Settings app.

  • Scroll down to the Phone section. Scroll down again and tap Blocked, and you’ll see your list of blocked callers.
  • Hit Add New and pick further numbers to block from your contacts list.
  • In order to do this, you’d need to add the nuisance caller to your contacts list for this method to work.
