STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — This was one Apple he shouldn’t have picked.
Clifton resident Roger Wallace has been sentenced to six months behind bars and five years’ probation for swiping a cell phone during a mugging eight months ago in Dongan Hills.
Wallace, 21, accosted the victim at about 10:50 p.m. on June 16, 2017, at Garretson and North Railroad avenues, said a criminal complaint.
The defendant snatched the victim’s Apple iPhone 6s and bolted, the complaint said.
Wallace was arrested about 25 minutes later.
The defendant pleaded guilty two weeks ago in state Supreme Court, St. George, to attempted second-degree robbery to satisfy all charges against him.
Attorney Thomas Reilly represented Wallace.
Assistant District Attorney Michael Tannousis prosecuted the case.
