Crocs launches shoe donation program for health-care workers – Longmont Times-Call

03/28/2020 by RSS POST

BROOMFIELD — Crocs Inc. (NASDAQ: CROX), the iconic Broomfield-based footwear firm, has launched “A Free Pair for Healthcare,” which allows workers in the medical field to request a free pair of shoes.

The company said it can donate as many as 10,000 pairs per day.

“Like everyone, we’ve been closely monitoring the news and working hard to map out a way to most effectively help where we can,” Crocs CEO Andrew Rees said in a statement. “Over the past week, we have spoken to health-care workers, their facilities and even their families and friends, and they have specifically asked for our shoes in an effort to provide ease on their feet, as well as ease of mind as they need the ability to easily clean up before they go home to their families.”

In addition to donating shoes through the online request program, Crocs has committed to providing as many as 100,000 pairs to be distributed at health-care facilities and organizations. Locally, those include Boulder Community Health; St. Anthony’s North Health Campus in Westminster; and UCHealth, which operates Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, UCHealth Medical Group in Loveland, UCHealth Greeley Hospital, Greeley Medical Center, UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital in Longmont and UCHealth Broomfield Hospital.

In Colorado, Crocs has already allocated about 10,000 pairs for local facilities, company spokeswoman Melissa Layton told BizWest.

“The health-care industry has always embraced Crocs, but our mantra of ‘be comfortable in your own shoes’ applies now more than ever, and we want to do more to help our nation’s heroes,” Rees said. “We have only one ask: Share the word to all those in health care and please be mindful to allow those who need these most to place their requests. This is the least we can do for those working incredibly hard to defeat this virus.”
