Baker Says He Has Not Been Tested For COVID-19 Despite Health Commissioner’s Infection – wgbh.org

03/28/2020 by RSS POST

Gov. Charlie Baker said Saturday he has not been tested for COVID-19 despite the fact that his public health commissioner Monica Bharel confirmed Friday that she has tested positive for the virus.

During a visit to a Red Cross facility in Dedham, Baker told reporters that he had not been around Bharel in about a week and she had been “a rabid distancer” anyhow, keeping herself away from others she worked with. “I have not been tested because I have no symptoms,” he said. The Red Cross staff took the temperature of all of Baker’s staff upon their entry to the facility, and Baker said his temperature was 97.7 degrees.

Baker visited the facility to highlight the need for healthy people to donate blood, which will become more urgent as more people test positive and are therefore unable to donate.
