Kate Festival is organized by the Cham ethnic group in Ninh Thuan in central Vietnam. This festival commemorates the heroes – Gods Po Klong Garai and Po Rome and pays homage to these gods.
At the festival, the Cham people have to do a ritual to celebrate the costumes from Raglai – the ancient Cham people. They participate in a procession to a nearby temple. When the procession reaches the Cham tower, a group of dancers perform a welcome dance in front of the tower. Besides, there is Pob Bang (opening door) performed by a magician in the temple and singing hymns of praise. This is a really fun festival that includes the following activities: a performance of the Ginang drum and Saranai flute and the Apsara dance.
