1.1. Draw a line on the ray
Example 1:
On the Ox ray, draw a line segment OM of length 2cm.
Solution guide:
How to draw: Known sucker O. We draw the node M as follows:
Place the edge of the ruler on the Ox ray so that the zero line of the ruler coincides with the origin O of the ray
The 2nd line (cm) of the ruler will give us the point M. The line segment OM is the line to draw.
Comment: On an Ox ray, it is always possible to draw one and only one point M such that OM = a (length unit).
Example 2:
Let the line segment AB (Figure 1). Draw a line segment CD such that CD = AB.
Solution guide:
Draw any Cy ray (Figure 2). Then, we know the endpoint C of the line segment CD. We draw the point D as follows:

Place the compass so that one point coincides with the endpoint A, the other point coincides with the endpoint B of the given line segment AB.

Keeping the aperture of the compass constant, place the compass so that one point coincides with the angle C of the Cyray, the other point is on the drawn ray, giving us endpoints D and CD is the line to be drawn.
1.2. Draw two lines on ray
Example 3:
On the Ox ray, draw two lines OM and ON knowing OM = 2cm, ON = 3cm. Which of the three points O, M, N is between the other two?
Solution guide:
After drawing two points M and N (Figure 3), we see that point M lies between two points O and N (because 2cm < 3cm).
Comment: On an Ox ray, OM = a, ON = b (Figure 4), if 0 < a < b, then point M lies between two points O and N.

Question 1: a. On the xray draw a line segment OM = 3cm.
b. Given point A. Draw line segment AB = 2.5cm.
c. Draw a line segment CD = 3.5cm.

a. Draw any ray Cx, using compass “convert length” AB onto ray Cx, CD = AB.
Convert AB to DE again. Then CE = 2AB
b. Do as in a, triple the length AB.
Question 3: On xrays:
a. Draw OA = 1cm; OB = 2cm. Which of the three points O, A, and B is between the other two points?
b. Draw OC = 3cm. Which of the three points A, B, and C is between the other two points?
