Multiply the time measure by a number

### 1.1. Knowledge to remember

**a) Example 1:**

On average, a worker completes a product in 1 hour and 10 minutes. How long does it take that person to make 3 such products?

We have to do the multiplication:

1 hour 10 minutes × 3 = ?

We calculate and calculate as follows:

So: 1 hour 10 minutes × 3 = 3 hours 30 minutes.

**b) Example 2:**

Every morning Hanh studies at school for an average of 3 hours and 15 minutes. Hanh studied at school 5 times a week. How much time does Hanh study at school each week?

We have to do the multiplication:

3 hours 15 minutes × 5 = ?

We calculate and calculate as follows:

So: 3 hours 15 minutes × 5 = 16 hours 15 minutes.

### 1.2. Solve textbook exercises on page 135

**Lesson 1 Textbook page 135**

Calculate:

a) 3 hours 12 minutes × 3 b) 4.1 hours × 6

4 hours 23 minutes × 4 3.4 minutes × 4

12 minutes 25 seconds × 5 9.5 seconds × 3

*Solution guide:*

Lesson 2 Textbook page 135

A ferris wheel spins for 1 minute and 25 seconds each round. Baby Lan sits on the ferris wheel and spins 3 times. How long does Lan sit on the ferris wheel?

*Solution guide:*

The time Lan is sitting on the swing is:

1 minute 25 seconds x 3 = 3 minutes 75 seconds

3 minutes 75 seconds = 4 minutes 15 seconds (because 75 seconds = 1 minute 15 seconds)

Answer: 4 minutes 15 seconds.
