Practice measuring length
1.1. Solve exercises page 47 Textbook
Lesson 1: Draw the line segments with the lengths given in the table below:
Straight line |
Length |
AB |
7 cm |
CD |
12 cm |
EG |
1dm 2cm |
Solution guide:
- Convert 1dm 2cm to centimeters.
- Using a straightedge and pencil, draw lines with the given lengths.
Exchange: 1dm 2cm = 12cm
Lesson 2: Practice
Measure the length and then tell the result
a) The length of your pencil;
b) The length of the edge of your desk;
c) The height of your desk legs.
Solution guide:
- Use a ruler to measure the lengths of objects.
- Pay attention to place the 0cm mark coincide with the starting point of measurement and keep the ruler along the length of the object to be measured.
Reference work, lengths of objects may vary
a) Pencil length approx: 20cm
b) Length of the edge of the desk: 18dm
d) Height of desk legs: 80cm.
Lesson 3: Estimates
a) How many meters high is the wall of your class?
b) How many meters long is the wall of your class?
c) How many decimeters is the edge of your class’ blackboard?
Solution guide:
- Remember how much 1m or 1dm is and estimate the lengths of the objects.
- Can rely on gloves, footsteps … to estimate.
a) The wall of my class is about 4 meters high
b) The wall of my class is about 10 meters long
c) The edge of the blackboard of your class is about 20 dm long.
1.2. Solve exercises page 48 Textbook
Lesson 1: a) Read the table (according to the form)
Name |
Height |
Incense |
1m 32cm |
male |
1m 15 cm |
Hang |
1m 20 cm |
Minh |

Tu |
1m 20 cm |
Form: Huong is one meter and thirty-two centimeters tall.
b) State the height of Minh and Nam.
Out of the above 5, who is the tallest? Who is the shortest?
Solution guide:
a) Read your height measurements according to the data in the table.
b) Find the height measurements of Minh and Nam. The height of 5 of you are written in the form of 1m and the number of centimeters, so you need to compare the number of centimeters and then find the tallest and the shortest.
Solution
a) Huong is one meter and thirty-two centimeters tall.
Male is one meter and fifteen centimeters tall.
Hang is one meter and twenty centimeters high.
Minh is one meter and twenty-five centimeters tall.
