8 . division table

**Lesson 1: **Mental arithmetic

a) 8 x 6 = 8 x 7 = 8 x 8 = 8 x 9 =

48 : 8 = 56 : 8 = 64 : 8 = 72 : 8 =

b) 16 : 8 = 24 : 8 = 32 : 8 = 40 : 8 =

16 : 2 = 24 : 3 = 32 : 4 = 40 : 5 =

__Solution guide:__

Use what you have learned about multiplication and division tables within 8, mentally and then fill in the blanks with the appropriate number.

a) 8 x 6 = 48 8 x7 = 56 8 x 8 = 64 8 x 9 = 72

48 : 8 = 6 56 : 8 = 7 64 : 8 = 8 72 : 8 = 9

b) 16 : 8 = 2 24 : 8 = 3 32 : 8 = 4 40 : 8 = 5

16 : 2 = 8 24 : 3 = 8 32 : 4 = 8 40 : 5 = 8.

**Lesson 2:** Mental arithmetic

32 : 8 = 24 : 8 = 40 : 5 = 16 : 8 =

42 : 7 = 36 : 6 = 48 : 8 = 48 : 6 =

__Solution guide:__

Repeat the division tables within 8 and then fill in the blanks with the appropriate number.

*Solution:*

32 : 8 = 4 4 : 8 = 3 40 : 5 = 8 16 : 8 = 2

42 : 7 = 6 36 : 6 = 6 48 : 8 = 6 48 : 6 = 8

**Lesson 3:** A man has 42 rabbits. After selling 10 animals, he locked the rest in 8 cages. How many rabbits does each cage hold?

__Solution guide:__

– Find the number of rabbits left after the sale: By subtracting the number of rabbits from the original sale.

– Find the number of children in each bell, we take the number we just calculated above and divide it by 8.

*Solution:*

After selling, that person has the number of rabbits left:

42 – 10 = 32 (child)

The number of rabbits in each cage is:

32 : 8 = 4 (child)

Answer: 4 children.

**Lesson 4:** Find \(\frac{1}{8}\) the number of squares of each shape:

__Solution guide:__

– Count the number of squares in each picture and then divide that number by 8.

*Solution:*

Figure a) given there are 16 squares

\(\frac{1}{8}\) the number of squares in figure a) is:

16 : 8 = 2 (squares)

Figure b) given there are 24 squares

So \(\frac{1}{8}\) the number of squares in figure b) is:

24 : 8 = 3 (squares)
