Math 2 Lesson: Multiplication

### 1.1. Knowledge to remember

Understand the relationship between the sum of the same terms with multiplication.

– Know how to write, read and calculate the result of multiplication.

2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10

2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 is the sum of 5 equal terms, each of which is 2.

We convert to multiplication, write as follows: 2 x 5 = 10

Read as *Two times five equals ten.*

Sign **x** called the multiplication sign.

### 1.2. Math forms

**Form 1: Convert the sum of equal terms into multiplication**

– Determine the value of each term.

Determine the number of equal terms in a given sum.

– Multiply the two numbers you just found.

**Form 2: Calculate the value of multiplication**

– I mentally follow the addition of the same numbers to find the value of the desired multiplication.

**Form 3: Math Quiz**

– Read and analyze the problem: The problem often gives the same number of values, requires finding the value of some groups.

– Find the solution of the problem: To find the value of some groups, we usually take the value of a term multiplied by the number of groups.

– Presentation of the problem.

– Check the solution and the results you just found.

### 1.3. Solving Textbook Exercises

**Lesson 1**

Convert the sum of equal terms into multiplication (in the denominator):

**Sample: 4 + 4 = 8; 4 x 2 = 8**

5 + 5 + 5 = 15

3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12

__Solution method__

– Counts equal terms in the given sum.

– The addition of the same terms is converted to multiplication with the formula:

[Số hạng] x [ Số số hạng giống nhau]

b) 5 + 5 + 5 = 15; 5 x 3 = 15

c) 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12; 3 x 4 = 12

**Lesson 2**

Write the multiplication (following the pattern):

a) 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 20 ** Sample 4 x 5 = 20**

b) 9 + 9 + 9 = 27

c) 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 50.

Do the same thing as lesson 1, write the multiplication including: Term x Number of terms = Result

**lesson 3**

Write multiplication:

__Solution method__

– Count the number of people in each team and the number of teams and then write the appropriate multiplication.

– Count the number of chickens in each small group and the number of such groups and then write the multiplication.

a) Each team has 5 people and there are 2 teams, so the multiplication can be written: 5 x 2 = 10

b) Each group has 4 mother hens and there are 3 such groups, so the multiplication can be written: 4 x 3 = 12
