Compare two-digit numbers

### 1.1. Knowledge to remember

– Know based on number structure to compare two or more two-digit numbers:

- If two numbers have the same tens digit, the one with the larger ones will be greater.
- If two numbers are different from the tens digit, the number with the larger tens will be greater.

– Determine the largest and smallest number in a sequence of two-digit numbers.

Compare numbers and then choose the number with the largest or smallest value in that sequence.

### 1.2. Maths on Comparing two-digit numbers

**Form 1: Fill in the blanks with appropriate marks**

**Form 2: Circle the largest number, the smallest number**

Compare numbers and choose the number with the largest or smallest value, depending on the requirements of the problem.

**Form 3: Sort numbers in ascending or descending order**

Compare the numbers and arrange them in order from smallest to largest (ascending) or vice versa, from largest to smallest (descending).

### 1.3. Solve textbook exercises pages 142, 143

**Lesson 1 page 142**

Put the appropriate <, >, = in the dot:

34….38 55…57 90…90

36.. .30 55…55 97…92

37….37 55…51 92…97

25…30 85…95 48…42

**Solution method**

Compare pairs of digits in the same row in order from left to right.

__Solution guide__

34 < 38 55 < 57 90 = 90

36 > 30 55 = 55 97 > 92

37 = 37 55 > 51 92 < 97

25 < 30 85 < 95 48 > 42

b) The successor of 84 is 85 The successor of 98 is 99

c) The successor of 54 is 55 The successor of 69 is 70

d) The successor of 39 is 40 The successor of 40 is 41.

**Lesson 3 page 144**

Put the appropriate <, >, = in the dot:

34 … 50 47 … 45 55 … 66

78…69 81…82 44…33

72…81 95…90 77…99

62…62 61…63 88…22

__Solution method__

Compare pairs of digits in the same row in order from left to right and then fill in the blanks with the appropriate sign.
