Council topic is where employees work, live
The San Diego North Economic Development Council invites members and nonmembers to hear “Where Do North County Employees Work and Live? A Pathbreaking New Report” at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, 5934 Priestly Drive. This analysis by SANDAG shows how many employees work in particular job centers in North County, how they travel to work and how far they travel, as well as the types of industries in different North County employment centers. New chef de cuisine at 7 Mile Kitchen
Walter Bunn is the new chef de cuisine at 7 Mile Kitchen, the restaurant at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. He brings 24 years of culinary expertise and a focus in farm-to-table Southern cuisine. An East Coast native, Bunn puts his focus on cuisine with a seasonal, fresh and earth-responsible approach. Threat awareness workshop set Nov. 8
The Ready Carlsbad Business Alliance hosts a Threat Awareness Symposium from 7:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 8 at Thermo Fisher Scientific, 5823 Newton Drive. A range of speakers will teach tools to prepare you, your employees, family and friends to watch for danger signs. The event is open to members and nonmembers. Cost is $20 and includes breakfast. Fall Makers’ Market returning to The Forum
The second Fall Makers’ Market will be held at The Forum Carlsbad from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 9 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 10. The Forum partners with The Local Bazaar to hold the market, with about 50 local entrepreneurs lining the sidewalks and filling the garden area between Lululemon and Paper Source. Vendors will offer items that they make or design. There will be free crafts each day for adults and children. Snap a photo in front of the fall-themed selfie wall; grab something delicious from the Union Food Truck; enjoy live music. Coastal Chamber holds networking meeting

Industrial building sells for $9.5 million
Colliers International San Diego Region recently sold a 46,936-square-foot stand-alone industrial building in Rancho Bernardo for $9,500,000. Evan McDonald, senior vice president of Colliers International, represented the buyer, Alfa Partners LLC, in the off-market transaction. The seller, 12375 World Trade Drive L.P., was represented by Ryan Sparks, SIOR, and Bill Dolan of CBRE. “The building was purchased by an investor who plans on leasing the facility to a prospective tenant,” said McDonald in a statement. The property is at 12375 World Trade Drive, San Diego. The industrial building is equipped with multiple dock and grade door positions, ESFR (early suppression, fast response) sprinkler capacity and 24-foot-clear height, among other features.
