Medtronic PLC said that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Omar Ishrak will retire as CEO on April 26, 2020, following the end of the company’s current fiscal year. Geoff Martha, currently executive vice president of the company’s Restorative Therapies Group, will assume the newly created role of Medtronic president and become a member of the board Nov. 1. Martha will succeed Ishrak as Medtronic CEO, effective April 27, 2020. Ishrak will assume a new position of executive chairman. Medtronic is a pioneering medical device company founds in Minneapolis; it is current based in Ireland with executive offices and operations in Fridley.
